Four exhibition stand types, and how to choose
Every stand we build falls into one of four types. They differ in cost per square metre, lead time, how freely the design can move and whether the structure survives to the next fair. Below is the honest comparison, including what each type cannot do.
Four ways to build a stand
Which one is right depends on your plot, your budget and how often you exhibit.
Choose by what your fair actually demands
Choose a custom timber stand if:
- • Your plot is roughly 30 m² or larger
- • You want a shape nobody else in the hall has
- • You need enclosed rooms, a mezzanine or heavy hung elements
- • The brand impression matters more than the per-m² price
Choose a Maxima stand if:
- • You exhibit more than once a year
- • You want an engineered, contemporary look without joinery cost
- • Build-up time is tight
- • You want to reuse the frame and change only the graphics
Choose a modular stand if:
- • Your plot size changes from fair to fair
- • The stand has to cross a border and freight is charged on volume
- • You want the parts to be individually repairable
- • Storage between editions has to be simple
Choose a package stand if:
- • This is your first fair, or you are testing a new market
- • The plot is small and the budget is fixed
- • You need delivery in days, not weeks
- • You want an upgrade on the bare shell scheme, nothing more
The two questions that decide it
First: how many times will this stand be used? A stand built for one fair and a stand built for six are different objects. Once reuse is on the table, the aluminium system types stop looking expensive — you pay for the frame once and for graphics each time.
Second: how much of your plot is visible? On a corner or island plot, most of what you build is a finished face and the structure carries the impression. On an in-line plot with two neighbours, one wall does most of the work, and spending on architecture the visitor never sees is money that would do more in lighting and graphics.
